Description: DENTST-L is an internet discussion list intended for predoctoral and postdoctoral dental students at schools around the world. The list originated with the idea to expose dental students to the internet during their studies. The list also encourages faculty from dental schools to join in order to develop an electronic dialogue between students and teachers. One of the goals of the list is to provide a first experience to dental students in participating with discussion lists. Initially, and periodically thereafter, postings on the list by the list management will focus on the basics of the internet. As such, the list will be used to deliver an electronic lecture in conjunction with dental informatics courses. As the list develops, another goal is to deliver dental content material in an electronic lecture format.
The second purpose of the list is to serve as a platform for free discussion. Possible topics may include, but are not limited to: basic sciences in dentistry, clinical dentistry, technical aspects of dentistry (materials, techniques), transition to dental practice, board examinations, ethical issues in dentistry, international dentistry.
