RESEARCH SEMINAR SERIES

The Dows Institute sponsors a series of noon seminars at which eminent researchers from institutions in the United States and abroad report on their work to faculty and students. Individual and small group sessions are also arranged. The seminars provi de opportunities for faculty and students to le arn about work in progress in other laboratories, keep abreast of research advances, and maintain lines of communication between the Dows Institute, the College of Dentistry, and other leading institutions worldwide.

INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AND VISITING SCIENTISTS

Dows faculty frequently collaborate in research projects with colleagues in other institutions in the United States and abroad. Sharing expertise and technologies enriches the educational milieu of the College as well as shaping a b roadened research agenda for the Institute. Long term research relationships with colleagues at the Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden; the Tokyo Dental College; the Dental School at Osaka University, Japan; the Tata Institute for Fundamental Resear ch in Bombay, India; the National Defense Medical Center in Taipei, Taiwan; Chulalongkorn University Dental School in Bangkok, Thailand; the Dental School of the University of Iceland, Reykjavik; the London Hospital Medical College, England and the Univer sity of Alexandria, Egypt are examples of the international element in Dows Institute research.

Visiting scientists from these and other institutions frequently spend from a few days up to several years in Dows working with students and Dows faculty o n joint projects. Conversely, faculty from the Dows Institute gain expertise working in the laboratories of colleagues in other countries.
