Special Care Clinic

Recognizing that every individual has special needs, all factors, such as health problems, age-associated problems, transportation and other personal needs are taken into consideration in determining appropriate dental treatment.

For the needs of our patients, the Special Care Clinic provides:

• Personalized assistance for handicapped patients
• Assistance in arranging transportation
• Special treatment planning to meet individual’s needs
• Complete dental services provided in one location
• Special management for patients with complex medical or physical needs
• Special consideration in making appointments to meet every patient’s needs. to ensure continuity of care, and keep number and length of appointments to a minimum.
• Recall and preventive programs to help maintain optimal oral health

The Special Care Clinic is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. For further information or to make an appointment, please call (319) 335-7373.

Faculty in the Special Care Clinic are available to see private patients. We provide complete dental services for all adults, with an emphasis on prevention, oral health maintenance, and total patient treatment planning. Fees are comparable to other private practices. Patients and visitors may park in the Visitor’s Parking Lot located next to the Dental Science Building. An hourly rate is charged.
